What you need to know about the Fall 2017 season:
The Girls on the Run season begins the week of September 11, 2017.
Practices are held twice a week for 10-weeks.
Practice days & times are determined by each site – please check site info on our LOCATIONS page prior to registering.
Sites may hold additional practices after the 5k due to school closings and other unforeseen circumstances. Please check directly with the coach/site contact for specific information concerning practice dates.
Registration includes: 20 lessons conducted by certified Girls on the Run Coaches (25 hours of instruction), one official Girls on the Run T-shirt, participation in the Girls on the Run 5k, a water bottle, a healthy snack at each practice, a 5k finisher's medallion.
Registration fee and scholarships:
The actual out of pocket cost to the Girls on the Run programs is approximately $150 per girl. This $150 covers the full cost of one child's participation.
A family that can afford to pay $150 is asked to pay the full amount. It is our policy to never turn away a girl based on financial need, and we are proud to offer scholarships at all locations. Please note, some locations may charge an additional $15 facility fee. Girls participate equally in the program regardless of the fee their family pays. Girls must complete the program to receive all benefits noted above.
The financial sustainability of our program depends on the honesty and integrity of parents who choose their appropriate registration amount. It is essential that each family contribute as much toward the full cost of the registration fee as it can afford. Local fundraising efforts and donations help to bridge the gap between program fees paid and necessary sponsorship. Families that have the ability to and are interested in supporting the program beyond the $150 may choose to sponsor additional girls as well.
